A violence prevention model

A community-based violence prevention program to improve social connection in reducing, addressing and de-escalating stressful situations in public settings. Research shows that increasing social connection and reducing social isolation decreases incidences of violence within communities.

The six principles used in this program were formed out of the Wakenheza Project - the founding violence prevention program for Saint Paul - Ramsey County Public Health. These principles are universal for building authentic connections.

  • Environment
  • Bias
  • Empathy
  • Culture
  • Power
